Tait was hired to conceive and implement a social marketing campaign regarding youth and addictions issues. The My Voice/My Choice campaign engaged youth to explore and express healthy attitudes toward alcohol and drug use through social and traditional media. Youth created their own issues-based videos and music on the topic of drugs and alcohol.
Tait was responsible for coordinating logistics for all aspects of the campaign, from organizing youth workshops in various NWT communities to all logistics related to the official launch of the campaign. The goal of the launch event was to preview a sampling of the youth videos and announce the My Voice/My Choice campaign.
Tait developed and distributed the invitations to schools/youth, dignitaries and media, and maintained the list of invitees. Videotaping of MLAs was done at the venue to capture their comments about addictions in our communities; those videos were later uploaded to the campaign website upon completion. Aaron “Godson” Hernandez, who later led the youth video workshops, was confirmed as the emcee and speaking notes were prepared. On-site logistics included setup and take-down, coordination of sound and catering, videotaping of the event (which was later made available on the Department of Health and Social Services YouTube channel), staffing a campaign display and laptops profiling the campaign website, and coordinating the media.
