Yellowknife Homelessness Coalition

Challenge

The Yellowknife Homelessness Coalition is a coalition of some 40 plus organizations in the community with an interest in the issue of homelessness.  While all share a common issue, their approaches to the issue are as varied as the organizations around the table.  Gaining consensus that allows the Coalition to move forward on its projects is challenging but is vital to its success.

Solution

Tait Communications has regularly been called upon to help the Yellowknife Homelessness Coalition work through strategic priorities and to set goals and objectives.  With a strong understanding of the organization and what drives its members, Tait has developed planning processes that allow members fully voice their opinions on issues, but yet successfully achieves consensus.

Results

Tait developed and facilitated a planning process that allowed the Coalition to focus and agree on its priorities and annual goals.  Such agreement is needed in order to obtain core funding from the Government of Canada, as well as to gain the support of other levels of government.
