Challenge
In an increasingly connected and mobile world – Yellowknife was in danger of being left behind. It’s been estimated that 2.5 million Canadians have an iPhone with access to an estimated 425,000 applications or “apps” with diverse functions including games, social networking, GPS Navigation, and much more. Of all that is out there, however, there was nothing that helped promote our fair city.
Solution
Our design and web development team created Yellowknife’s first community oriented iPhone application – YKBuzz. The app, which is a free download for any iPhone user, allows visitors to check the weather, stay up to date of the latest community events and access a directory of local businesses. Extraordinarily user friend, those who download the app can even upload photos and videos of all things Yellowknife to share with the entire YKBuzz community.Officially launched on September 22, 2011, the application and corresponding website are updated daily.
