Sacred Circle

Challenge

Sacred Circle is a community of people that promotes healing and health in the mind, body and spirit using traditional Aboriginal healing practices, teachings and ceremonies. Sacred Circle needed easy to manage communication tools to keep supporters up to date on activities, upcoming events, gathering circles and to help promote the Aboriginal Princess Pageant.

Web Solution

Working with a small budget Tait developed website using a template with a clean and crisp graphic look. And because the site would be self-managed, the easy to learn Content Management System was also beneficial.  Within the project, Tait updated the Sacred Circle logo, added a photo gallery, and created a blog that is used as a news page. The home page is also the place to download the society’s latest newsletter.

Branding Solution

Sacred Circle hosted the first Aboriginal Princess pageant in 2010.  The organization called on Tait to develop the graphic materials and visual identity for this unique contest which was more about supporting and nurturing young Aboriginal women than creating a winner.  The need was specific and urgent.  With the contest opening only a week away, Tait was charged with developing a logo and graphic identity for a unique contest honouring young Aboriginal women who successfully function in “two worlds” – the traditional and western worlds. Tait created the Aboriginal Princess Award logo incorporating traditional symbols.

The Aboriginal Princess and her Princess-in-Waiting were chosen by a panel of grandmothers and presented at a highly anticipated Aboriginal Day ceremony. As part of her reign, she attended a youth conference, and was guided and mentored by Aboriginal women elders and her community over the year.
